Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney movie worldwide release planned

The official 'Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney' movie will release outside of Japan, its director Takashi Miike has confirmed.
Miike confirmed plans to release different dubbed and subtitled versions of the courtroom detective drama for each region, during a Q&A session attended by Twitchfilm. This is good news as certain character's names vary wildly from country to country (e.g one man's is 'Reiji Mitsurugi' in Japan, Benjamin Hunter in France, and Miles Edgeworth everywhere else).
The movie's plot follows that of the original game in the Ace Attorney series, which was first released on Game Boy Advance in 2001. A remake was then made on DS, with a new, fifth case. Another remake was the made for Wii, and a third on iOS.
Character designs appear to follow the game's art style as closely as possible, and familiar versions of the original cast are easily recognisable.
Director Takashi Miike is probably best known outside of Japan for directing ultra-violent manga adaptation Ichi the Killer, as well as bizarre musical horror The Happiness of the Katakuris. No stranger to the world of video game adaptations, he has also helmed a trilogy of Dead or Alive films.


Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: The Film was released on 11th February in Japan. No dates, even year predictions were given for localisations in any other countries.

A fifth 'Gyakuten Saiban' title is in development, Capcom has announced.
No platforms or release date were mentioned in Capcom's reveal, which came at an event marking the series' 10th anniversary.
In addition, the first three Ace Attorney games will get a re-release for iPhone 4 and iPad 2, plus later Android, in a special HD bundle.
The trio of games - Phoenix Wright, Justice for All, Trials and Tribulations - will come with higher resolution artwork.
Players will get the first two chapters free. Additional chapter packs are priced in Japan at 600 yen (about £5), or you can get the full game for 1200 yen (about a tenner).
Those who already own the first Phoenix Wright on iOS can bring their saves into the new HD version.
